Alice and Matt
Finding the perfect theme that reflected Matt and I as a couple took awhile. I wanted something that encompassed us as individuals and a couple, unique, yet classy. I perused countless online blogs and Pinterest boards - I remember staying up late at night just searching around. During my search, I found many Barn and Vintage-styled weddings - they seemed to be trending a lot. We actually did visit a site that had a barn; however, it was a little too country for us. The vintage-style weddings were a little too eclectic. It wasn't until I saw one specific element in a California mountain-side wedding that I knew exactly what the theme was. That element was a centerpiece in a wooden flower box with peach, ivory and sage-colored flowers. I remember thinking it was beautiful and exactly what Matt and I are! Matt is casual, laid back, outdoorsy guy, while I enjoy clean, classic, traditional elements, which is when I coined the term "casual elegance" for our wedding.
I was so excited on how all of the decorations come to fruition. I made a lot of the elements, and florists decorated all the tables. I planned what elements I wanted and started purchasing the items needed very early. I knew I wanted various signs throughout the wedding, so i purchased a number of chalkboards through Etsy and Amazon. I made a "BAR" sign out of wine corks, so I started stocking on corks early and asked friends if they had any they could give. I wanted succulents as escort cards, so I purchased succulents and the glass vases early, and coordinated with our invitation designer on wooden escort cards. I purchased the wooden table number sticks after the centerpieces were design. I purchased galvanized buckets for the oyster bar and for holding sand for the sparklers. I also got sparklers and large glass hurricanes to hold them. I made dessert to-go bags which I hand-stamped with our initials. I purchased flip flops at Old Navy during their Summer sale and hand wrapped them in twine and hand-stamped sizes on craft paper.
