Jeanne & Jared
Our Personal touches:
My husband and I made our planning process somewhat of an adventure. Even though Jared did not care about the type of flowers or the color of bridesmaids’ dresses, he made himself involved in every way possible. We were so gracious when our close friends and families offered to help, handling DIY projects and even taking care of the set-up of our hand-made chuppah on the big day. Because we planned our wedding as a couple and with the people we love, seeing it all come together with them by our side was priceless. A labor of love – literally.
The Best Thing about our day:
It was our wedding ceremony. My husband and I had a mixed faith ceremony. I am Catholic and he is Jewish. We knew from day one that our wedding ceremony was not going to be conventional. But we wanted to feature the important parts of the Catholic and Jewish wedding traditions and still keep the ceremony lighthearted and fun – and about us as a couple. Our Rabbi and Reverend met with us before the big day so that they could get to know one another and we could plan out the ceremony together. The ceremony Jared and I crafted with their help turned into the most fun part of the entire day and night. There were laughs and improvisation (cue an unknowing groomsman being asked by the Rabbi to act as one of the Price is Right girls and carry our ketubah down the aisle for all to see), but also somber moments (my bridesmaid dedicated a rendition of Ave Maria to my late Grandmother for a surprise to my Mom and her two sisters). The combination of bringing the two traditions together and the elements that are special about our relationship and the people we hold dear made the ceremony unforgettable.
